Last week UNC Health Southeastern’s Gibson Cancer Center announced the first patients were treated using the C-RAD Catalyst+ HD motion management system to help ensure the highest level of treatment accuracy possible. Catalyst+ HD is C-RAD’s latest product release and the most technically advanced system developed so far. The system is able to closely monitor patient treatments through a sophisticated surface image-guided system that is reliable and safe and does not require any special markers or tattoos. The unique combination of the multiple camera set-up plus the advanced algorithm ensures the highest level of accuracy possible.

In addition to offering contactless patient positioning, another key advantage of Catalyst+ HD is its tight integration with the Elekta equipment onsite. If patient movement is detected beyond a certain clinically defined threshold, Catalyst+ HD will interrupt the treatment beam, giving the clinical team the ability to make adjustments to the patient’s location in real-time and then continue therapy in the correct position. Catalyst+ HD not only offers tight linac integration but also a full client server structure with CT’s and planning systems compatibility so that there is a seamless connection throughout the entire workflow.

Because Gibson Cancer Center offers highly specialized treatment techniques, such as stereotactic radiation therapy (SRS) and Deep Inspiration Breath Hold (DIBH), it was important to choose a system like Catalyst+ HD that could deliver the highest level of accuracy and safety possible. Catalyst+ HD was also designed by radiation therapy professionals to follow the clinical workflow so it’s extremely easy to use and intuitive. Catalyst+ HD pulls in important patient information automatically to reduce clicks and accelerate the workflow.
